
I saw this ads in instagram. The ads has specific target market which is Indonesian people who love to have short getaway while long weekend. I believe with the survey that most of Indonesian will not choose Australia as destination idea when planning for long weekend due to its distance and traveling time. Domestic destination or some ASEAN neighborhood countries might be the first choice to visit during long-weekend.
To grab a chunk travelers from Indonesia, increase tourist visit, Australia do targeted campaign, giving the idea to their target market. And the ads gives solution by highlight Perth as destination for long weekend which I believe because Perth is one of city that has shortest traveling time from Indonesia. From Jakarta to Perth will take 5,5 hours direct flight. The traveling time from Jakarta to Perth is shorter than go to Hong Kong and Japan.
In addition to increase the visit from Indonesian, and be top of mind for long weekend destination, Australia must waive their visa requirement. By loosening the visa requirement or simplified the process, it will increase the traffic. Japan is one of country that has simple visa requirement, where Indonesian visit to Japan grew 32 percent in 2016 and 30% in 2017. Indonesian people also think about ASEAN countries or Hong Kong to spend long-weekend because no visa requires for tourist.
